An Epistle poem for our Fellow black stars ...Dear Black Stars

Dear Black Stars

Published on  on Me FIRI GHANA.COM

Dear Black Stars,

From our hearts to yours,
We say to you:
Have no fear brothers. We believe in you !

There’s a reason why there is a star in the middle of the Ghana flag.

The star is a reminder of who you are.
You have a purpose. You are chosen !
You are black stars, set apart to reign !

Dear Black Stars, Use your identity to score like stars, attack like stars and defend like stars.

Heaven is behind you and I hear applause.

I hear multitudes of people rejoicing over you.
Brazil world cup 2014, we are ready for you.
Warriors by nature, we won’t back down without a fight !

Viva Black Stars ! Make us proud .

I AM HEPHZIBAH

Published in Ten2Teens Magazine Volume 3 on 11/06/2014

If only they knew what it means to you and I,
If only they knew the mystery behind your love,
If only they knew how you really see each one of us,
The veil covering our eyes will be removed
and we will see things in a different light.

You say you delight in me,
yet somehow these words are words not enough,
because of all the heartache.
all the pain that I had to go through.

Confessing my inner thoughts before the world:
Loving you is easy but trusting you? I find it so hard!

Perhaps One day,
I will be secure in your love.
Because I am Hephzibah.
Forever will I be Hephzibah.

Written by Adwoa Asiedu

*Hephzibah in Hebrew means : My delight is in her.

Inspired by Isaiah 62 :4 'No longer will they call you deserted, or name your land desolate.
But you will be called Hephzibah and your land Beulah ; for the Lord will take delight in you
and your land will be married.'

Celebrating The Kente Cloth of Ghana-The Happy Nation

Published in Me FiRi Ghana.com on April 29th, 2014

http://mefirighana.com/a-poem-by-adwoa-asiedu-2/

Ordinary isn't the word.
Representing a rich culture, we are devoted to the motherland.
Oh the beauty of the silk and the cotton fabric, the vibrant colours and the geometric shapes!
They all scream out originality and ooze an air of dignity and grace.

Welcome to my world, yeah you can call us patriotic.
As we approach the world cup, this is a time to unite!
No more fear, no more feelings of inferiority.
The old has gone! The new has come so let’s wear our Kente with confidence.

A new season I declare. Rejoice oh people of Ghana.
We will be known for being the happy nation.

This will be a legacy which will forever stand.

Black Queen

 Published in Ten2teens Magazine 1st Issue (October-December 2013) on 23-11-2013.

Say Hello to a black Queen who is proud to be who she is.
I’ll tell you why I love being a black woman:

A black woman is full of beauty.
A black woman is full of fire.
 A black woman exudes boldness.
A black woman has inner strength.

She isn't afraid to speak her mind.
But she is wiser than what your eyes see.
A black Woman is a fighter.
A black woman is a warrior.
A black woman is powerful.
A black woman is complete.
Yes it is who we are.
 We are all that.

Embrace being a black Woman.
You were made to be great,
You were destined to be influential,

Destiny calls;
Now is the time to manifest our presence
Raise your hands up in the sky And declare:
Now is my time.

Now Go.

I SEE

Published in Me FiRi Ghana.com/Blog/ on 15-11-2013

Open your eyes! What do you see?

I see a new people who will not be denied.
I see a new face that will not be shaken.
I see a new generation shining their light.

Open your eyes! What do you see now?

I now see an army rising up.
I now see mighty warriors standing up.
Ready to reign, so ready to rule this world.

See this land of greatness. See this land of glory.
 You See, This is Ghana!

Choose Wisely

Published in Ten2Teens 1st Print Magazine on 23-11-2013

It’s not about how many you have. It’s about who will be there,
To hold your hand, to encourage you, to cheer you on.

It’s not about how cool, It’s not about how sweet, It’s not about how kind one may seem.

Look deeper.

Seek for individuals who have integrity.
A person with integrity is classy.
A person with integrity is always genuine.
A person with integrity is always honest.

You are a somebody, therefore set the standard high.
You are not a follower, therefore surround yourself with leaders.
You become like those you spend most times with,
So be deliberate today and choose wisely.

Stay

Published in Ten2Teens Magazine on 17/05/2013
http://www.ten2teensmagazine.com/arts-reviews/ten2teens-poems/stay/

What a crazy journey we've been on,
What a roller-coaster of a ride
We've been tried and tested
With all the trials and tribulations
Life is more beautiful when we overcome.
We fought for love
We fought for truth
We fought the good fight
And we won.
Hear this joyful sound
It’s a sound of freedom
Can you see these tears?
Those are tears of happiness.
Here you are saying your goodbye..
Like nothing ever happened.
Like nothing ever mattered.
Our story isn't over yet.
Don’t say goodbye yet.
You are here, I am here
So stay.

Come Closer

Published in' looking for lyrics'-The song in my heart  (2009) published by Young Writers

Here I am
I come to you
Draw yourself close to me
I need you, I want you
You are my everything
Visit me tonight as my soul cries out

Come closer to me
Hold me tight
Never let me go
Never let me fall

When I think no one cares
I know that you care
When I feel down, you cheer me up
When I sense trouble, you give me peace
How can I possibly not want you more?

Come closer to me
Hold me tight
Never let me go
Never let me fall

Your light is what I need
Your truth is what I seek

Never let me go
Never let me fall
Come closer now.
